Every serious fitness enthusiast knows that nutrition is the most important part of building an impressive, ripped, muscular physique.
Let’s face it, even if you are on the best training program possible and take all the best supplements, your muscles won’t grow by themselves and the fat is not going to fall off magically. Food will make your muscles grow and burn that stubborn belly fat. Without nutritious food in the right quantities, even the most intense workout or cardio session is worthless. That’s as simple as that.

10 Most Popular Causes of Belly Fat

There are numerous causes of belly fat and today you will uncover 10 of them. We are regularly bombarded with physical, psychological, and environmental issues that lead us to develop bulging bellies. Check these out:
1. Genes, heredity, and hormones. Our genetic material maps map out what our individual bodies can and cannot do. To some degree, we all react to food and other stimulus in different ways. Some physical conditions exist because our hormones and our organs deem it so. However, we shouldn’t sit idly and just take it as if we didn’t have a choice. You can seek medical cures for conditions such as hypothyroidism and hypercorticism (Cushing’s disease). The genetic causes of belly fat can be fought once you seek medical care.
2. Certain kinds of medicines. Weight gain is just one of the many effects you can experience from taking specific medicines. Actually, some migraine and mood-altering medicines can lead to a fat belly. Make sure to talk about side-effects and contingencies with your doctor every time medication or treatment is prescribed.
3. Dependence on fast food. We live in a fast-moving world and, as expected, we would want things to be done quickly. No wonder we’ve been that reliant on junk and fast food – two other leading causes of belly fat. Prepare your own meals and avoid these tempting fast food joints. It’s hard, but it can definitely be done.
4. Psychological and emotional factors. Depression, stress, addiction, euphoria – these emotions and psychological states sometimes make you want to eat a lot. Despite feeling these overwhelming emotions, try to control what you eat and not the other way around.
5. Alcohol consumption. Drinking too much alcohol is one of the main causes of belly fat. Think about it – a beer belly isn’t really a stomach full of beer. If you suddenly feel like quenching your thirst with a cold mug of beer, try reaching for that glass of water or smoothie instead.
6. Eating foods with high fat content. A diet that’s high in fat and cholesterol will certainly lead to a bulging midsection. Limit your fat intake to the healthy kind like omega fatty acids.
7. High carb or high sugar diet. It’s vital to have carbs in your diet, but not so much that you feel weighed down after every meal..
8. Improper digestion. Gastrointestinal troubles are also causes of belly fat. Chew your food real good, eat small portioned meals frequently, and don’t lie down immediately after you eat.
9. Menopause. Women are like a big jar of uncontrollable hormones when they’re going through menopause, and weight-gain can easily be one of the side-effects. Fight the misery by signing up for different kinds of activities. Keeping yourself busy can take your mind off the hot flashes (and even keep you from eating too much).
10. Little to no exercise. It has to be stressed that engaging in some form of exercise is truly a must. Without an outlet for expelling all that bottled up energy, you’ll only end up with a oversized belly. Engage in physical activities as frequently as you can. Exercising won’t only get rid of belly fat but it’s also good for the heart, mind, and soul.
These causes of belly fat can be fought head on. A healthier way of life may need a little effort on your part, but it’s all going to be worth it in the end.

4 Dangerous Myths About Supplements
Thanks for visting us again. I really would appreciate your thoughts on our blog posts, why not comment or subscribe to our free musclebuilding course at the top of this page?
More than 50% of people in the US take dietary supplements to enhance an aspect of their health. Maybe you take supplements on a regular basis…
In fact, over 20 billion dollars per year is spent on vitamins, minerals, herbs and other assorted pills. As you can see, the supplement industry is booming.
The main issue here, however, is that lot of these supplements are sold with downright deceptive advertising, and in extreme cases, can cause serious health issues.
Thus, here are 4 dangerous myths about supplements:
1. They don’t have side effects: Look, just because the supplement companies market their products as natural does NOT mean there are 100% safe. In fact, there are many “natural” substances that are lethal. Also, remember that a lot of supplements are super concentrated concoctions of different ingredients. Thus, at this level, the naturalness tends to fade.
2. They are backed by valid studies: Most of the sexy charts and graphs you see on the labels and advertisements are made up. You see, the bulk of the data is performed by biased entities that are directly related to the supplement companies themselves.
3. Supplement manufacturers are acting in our best interest: The bottom line is that millions and millions of dollars are spent on advertising to get you to buy. And the reality is that when so much money is involved, things can get a little out of control. Ephedra is a perfect example here. So please do not be swayed by the sexy advertising.
4. The placebo effect doesn’t exist: The placebo effect is real, very real. So just because someone you know swears by a supplement, doesn’t mean that it’s safe. Simply taking a sugar pill can make 40% of a group feel an improvement. Now 40% is a huge number. This makes sense, however, since our minds have such great control over our bodies.
The bottom line here is to stay away from all the advertising hype. Instead, stick to what has been proven by clinical trials as being effective. Anything less and you could be putting your health at risk!

Are You Always On A Diet?

How often do you tell yourself you better go on a diet on Monday? How many different diets have you been on only to make you miserable and not work?
When I was younger I went on every diet that every became available! I was always going for the quick fix, and guess what, none of them worked for the long term. All they did was make me very hungry, miserable and then wrecked my metabolism for later in life.
After doing that for years and finally doing my own research whilst becoming a personal trainer I finally realized the damage I had been doing to my body. For the last 10 years I have focused on eating normal, healthy wholesome food without having to worry about it each day. I’m in much better shape than I have every been! So that’s why I am always trying to teach people about not going for the quick fix diet because I know there is a better way.
So listed below are my guidelines for getting off the dieting roundabout!
. stop calling food “bad foods” or good foods. Start selecting foods that are good for your body.
. stop being good all week and bingeing on the weekend. Start eating well every day with treats allowed during the week.
. stop starting a new diet every Monday. Take time on the weekend to purchase fresh wholesome food and take the time to organise some great meals.
. Stop focusing on the ‘bad’ things you’ve consumed. Let it go…it’s done. Start focusing on the good things you’ve done for your body today eg: you exercise or ate some fresh fruit.
. stop a lifestyle of denial. Start allowing small amounts of your favourite food every now and then, it will stop you being miserable and stop you from bingeing. For example, if you love chocolate, allow yourself a couple of squares of chocolate, eat it slowly and enjoy it!
. stop shutting yourself away from social functions because you are on a diet. Start living life and enjoy your network of friends.

Trying to Lose Weight? Beware the “Fat-Free” Label
Thanks for visting us again. I really would appreciate your thoughts on our blog posts, why not comment or subscribe to our free musclebuilding course at the top of this page?
You think you are buying healthy choices by buying “low fat” but did you know that you may be sabotaging your weight loss efforts?
OK, so we all know that high saturated fat diets are not good for us and so with all the low fat products out there you would think that obesity was no longer a problem, but there are more overweight people than ever before. Why?
“FAT FREE” DOESN’T MEAN SUGAR FREE OR CALORIE FREE”! What has happened is that many people have cut out the fat only toreplace it with refined sugar. Nowadays, even foods that have never contained any fat now have labels saying “no fat”. Forexample, would you believe that a friend of mine used to eat marshmallows by the packet because it had a huge label saying “fat free” across the top. It never occurred to her that they were 100% sugar and full of calories! The same can be said for quite a few ‘diet’ yoghurts. The level of fat is low but wow, check out some of the sugar levels. And remember, there are a lot of types of sugar, for example, corn syrup, glucose, sucrose etc.
A food product can in fact be fat free but can be full of calories. For example the product could be fat free but 100% sugar. No wonder you find it hard to lose weight!
Marketers hope that you are too busy (which is often the case) to stop and read each food label, so instead you see the line in big letters saying the product is ‘fat free’ and think its a good choice. Try to read the label at least once so you will get familiar with the ingredients in the items you are buying. You dont have to read all the ingredients, usually the first couple will tell you whether you should buy it or not.
So if you are struggling to lose weight but think you are eating well, check the food labels. You could be sabotaging your weight loss!
